KITESURFING SCHOOL

Seeing for the first time a kite flying on the surface of the ‘water is an experience that impresses, fascinates and is difficult to forget: the ‘thrill and adrenaline of being between the sky and the sea, harnessing the forces of nature, gives each of us truly unique sensations.

But between seeing and doing there is the sea… and a kite to fly! Of all water sports, Kitesurfing is undoubtedly the most adrenaline-pumping, but also the most challenging. This is why good physical preparation is required to tackle it and it is highly recommended to approach it through a course taught by qualified instructors.

  • How does it work ?

Thanks to our experience in teaching Kitesurfing, we have decided to divide the courses according to the time you can dedicate to us and your desire to deepen this discipline.
This is why we have created three types of courses and the possibility of purchasing individual Kite rides, to complete the learning of this sport and acquire the necessary confidence.
There are four chapters that you need to go through to learn this discipline:

Chapter 1: Theory

An absolutely not to be underestimated part of such a technical discipline is theory. This initial introduction is a key moment when the instructor introduces all the equipment and how to assemble and disassemble it. A very important chapter concerns the weather and the knowledge of the winds. After that he will explain what the flight window is and what the main gaits are.
Finally, an important part is about safety: presenting the rules and behaviors to be followed to prevent accidents, but also assessing the risks on the spot.

Chapter 2: Ground practice

The next step focuses on practicing with a kite trainer: a small box kite that is not able to exert enough traction to make you fly, however, it is very useful to understand how to command the Kite. The instructor will have you perform some simple first exercises on the beach that will prove very useful later on. In particular, the purpose is to become as familiar as possible with the movement of the bar, before handling a “real” kite.

Chapter 3: Body Drag

Once you have gained the right feel for the kite on the beach, it is time to get into the water and switch to body drag. Body drag is the technique of learning how to balance the sail with the body by learning how to move in one direction. In this way you will experiment with different gaits. This part of the course aims to enable you to maneuver the kite safely, holding it in the air and moving it from window edge to window edge, becoming familiar with the bar and depower system.
Fully understanding this technique and mastering it means you are already more than halfway to the next stage, plus it will come in handy whenever you need to retrieve your board after a fall.

Chapter 4: Water Start

The last chapter of the basic kitesurfing course is the one dedicated to managing the sail and board in the water and finally starting with the board. The instructor will show you the technique on land, after which he will help you practice in the water how to get on the board and … glide!
During this phase you will also learn how to relaunch a kite that has fallen into the water, self-rescue techniques and kite recovery in an emergency situation, which all kiters should know and be able to practice with their eyes closed!
The vast majority of learners at this point are not yet capable of kitesurfing, so there is an opportunity to purchase additional outings to familiarize themselves.
The courses that can be purchased are:

Kite Discovery

Theory + Ground Practice
This course is suitable for those who are fascinated by the world of kiting and want to understand what it is all about. This is a one-hour class, divided between theory and onshore practice.

Kite Drag

Theory + Ground Practice + Body Drag
This is the basic course, with a one-hour class devoted to theory and practice on land and a second one-hour class in open water to learn Body Drag.

Kite Start

Theory + On-Shore Practice + Body Drag + Water Start (if you have brilliantly passed Chapter 3!)
This is the complete course, consisting of three lessons: we will start with theory and get to taste the thrill of flying on the water with a board at your feet.
