WINDSURFING SCHOOL

Water and wind: the two fundamental elements to be able to practice Windsurfing, one of the most fascinating and practiced water sports in Italy and abroad.

Of all the sports you can choose to learn, Windsurfing is definitely the most technical and suitable for obtaining an aquatic practicality that then allows you to excel in all the others.

Modern equipment allows anyone to approach this discipline and progress quickly, thanks in part to the perfect conditions of our spot.

It is from this sport that the Kau Kau Club, the first windsurfing school in Liguria, was born in 1999.

  • How does it work ?

The experience of our instructors and the location of the school within the bay, which receives a constant and perfectly crosswind, allows everyone to quickly learn and practice the basics and then perfect the technique of leading and maneuvering the board.
The learning path can take place through group lessons, structured in three different courses, or through individual lessons for technique refinement with an instructor dedicated to you.

Level 1: Wind Rider

This course is dedicated to students with first sailing experience, and is aimed at learning how to sail independently in light wind conditions.
You will learn sailing theory and elementary Windsurfing maneuvers: starting from the beach, sail recovery, sailing in the various gaits, basic tacking and basic jibing.
Recommended 3 lessons.

Level 2: Wind Pro

This course is a natural continuation of the Level 1 course and will enable you to gain the confidence for self-starting and sailing in medium wind conditions.
You will take on the open sea, where you will test your skills in more challenging winds and learn the stern gybe and three-step quick turn.
Recommended 3 lessons.

Level 3: Wind Master

The goal of the course is to achieve the first glide.
You will learn how to lead driftless boards and experiment with different volumes of them in order to appreciate their different characteristics. The introduction of the trapeze will allow you to use higher performance sails without tiring your arms, so you can focus on the sensations of sailing and perfect control and technique.
Recommended 3 lessons.

  • When does it take place ?

Lessons take place in the sheltered bay of Fiumaretta di Ameglia, where steady, light breezes of about 12 to 18 knots blow in flat water conditions in spring and summer.
They take place daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the time when the mistral blows on our coast and reaches its maximum intensity due to the thermal effect.
Duration is one and a half hours, to allow for both theory on land and practice on water.
