WING FOIL SCHOOL
Wing foil is the sport of the moment, halfway between windsurfing and kitesurfing, allowing you to experience the sea anywhere and virtually every day.
Born very few years ago, it is a discipline that is gathering more and more practitioners because, besides being fun, it allows you to become autonomous with just a few lessons.
Wing Foil is freedom: not only because of the adrenaline-pumping sensation of flying 80 cm above the water thanks to a board equipped with a foil, but also because of the practicality of equipment that is easily transported, assembled in a few minutes, and allows you to go out on the water in previously unthinkable wind conditions.
How does it work ?
Our Wing Foil courses have been structured to be suitable for everyone: from those who already have experience with sailing and water sports, to those just beginning this adventure.
The Wing Foil learning path is divided into two phases:
- First we cover sailing theory and learn how to handle the wing, first on the beach and then on the water with a foil-less board. Having familiarized yourself with wing and board, you move on to maneuvering and different gaits on the water.
- Once you master wing handling you enter the world of foil, moving on to hydrodynamic theory. As we go out on the open water in the dinghy we will find the right knots to get up on the foil and perform the maneuvers on the glide.
BASE course
The basic course includes Wing sailing theory and the first outings on the water to become familiar with the board and wing. Depending on the student’s dexterity, different types of foil-less boards may be used.
ADVANCED course
The advanced course is conducted in an open water dinghy. Offshore, it is possible to sail with more knots of wind and ample room to maneuver, so learning can be speeded up. To ease the transition to foil boarding a lesson may be devoted to electric foil. Are you ready to fly?
When does it take place ?
Lessons take place in the sheltered bay of Fiumaretta di Ameglia, where steady, light breezes of about 12 to 18 knots blow in flat water conditions in spring and summer.
They take place daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the time when the mistral blows on our coast and reaches its maximum intensity due to the thermal effect.
The duration varies from an hour to an hour and a half depending on the number of participants, and both theory on land and practice on water are covered.
